Moving a Session to a Different Project

Introduction

If data was not imported correctly to Flywheel, you can easily move sessions to a different project in Flywheel. This article explains how to move multiple sessions to a different project.

Considerations for Moving Sessions

Warning

Unsupported upload method for site, group, or project de-id profiles

Moving a session to a new project does not de-identify data. Use one of these supported methods if you use site, group, or project de-id profiles.

When moving sessions from one project to another, it is important to consider the subjects associated with the sessions.

The following describes what happens to a subject and the subject's metadata when you move some or all of the subject's sessions.

Moving all of a subject's sessions

If you are moving all sessions associated with a subject to a different project and the subject exists in both projects, Flywheel:

  • Moves all sessions to the destination project. The sessions no longer exist in the source project
  • The subject remains in the source project along with any metadata (attachments, custom data, tags, notes).

Tip

If the subject does not exist in the destination projectFlywheel moves the subject from the source project along with all metadata associated with that subject to the destination project. The subject no longer exists in the source project and only exists in the destination project.

Moving Some of a Subject's Sessions

If you are only moving some of the sessions associated with a subject:

  • Flywheel moves the designated sessions to the destination project.
  • The subject remains in the source project along with all of the metadata (attachments, custom data, tags, notes).
  • Any metadata associated with the subject in the destination project is not changed.

Tip

If the subject does not exist in the destination projectFlywheel will create the subject label in the destination project, so the subject exists in both projects. However, none of the metadata on the subject is added to the destination project.

The session is moved to the destination project. Navigate to the destination project to view the session.
