Starting with version 12.0.0, Flywheel will begin moving to a new infrastructure, which we are calling V3. We have been improving the way Flywheel works from the ground up. These updates give you a faster, more stable Flywheel environment for your lab. Because these updates include the tools and methods we use to build Flywheel, we are designating the infrastructure version.
Learn more about the infrastructure updates below and see which version you are using.
How is V3 different from previous infrastructure?
Certain new features require the updated infrastructure to function. For example, the CLI Bulk Ingest and the improved in-app DICOM and NIFTI image viewer both require that you are using the V3 infrastructure.
All Flywheel sites will be upgraded to V3 infrastructure, where you’ll enjoy all the latest features as well as improved performance and stability. It’s important to upgrade so Flywheel can better support your site as it grows. We will work with you to upgrade your site at no cost.
Because upgrading to V3 requires more downtime for your Flywheel environment, we will continue to support V2 infrastructure throughout this transition period.
How do I find out if I have V2 or V3 infrastructure?
To find your Flywheel software version as well as if you are using V2 or V3 infrastructure:
-
Sign in to Flywheel.
-
In the top right corner, select the help menu. This will tell you your Flywheel version as well as the infrastructure version (V2 or V3). For example, this site is using Flywheel version 12.0.1 with the V3 infrastructure.
We are separating the software version (such as version 12.0.1) and the infrastructure version (V3). Since we are sill releasing new software versions to V2 sites, it is possible to have version 12.0.1 (V2).
