Flywheel offers the option to authenticate using your university or enterprise credentials. This article explains how to determine the correct username format for adding users to sign in via CILogon.
If you are are adding new users or if you see the error message, "Login was successful, but <username> is not set up as a user within Flywheel. Contact an administrator to get registered to the platform", you need to use the correct username format. CILogon requires the user's eduPersonPrincipalName (ePPN). This username is case-sensitive and can be different from the users email address.
To determine the ePPN:
Navigate to https://test.cilogon.org.
Click University Credentials via CILogon.
Select your institution from the dropdown list. You are redirected to your institution's sign in page.
If the institution does not appear in the dropdown, contact Flywheel to enable it.
After you successfully sign in, you are redirected to the Flywheel Token Debugger page.
Look for ePPN . This is the username format you should use to sign in to Flywheel
The following error appears if you select an institution from the dropdown list that has not yet been enabled on your Flywheel site: "IdP <address> is not whitelisted. Contact an administrator to add your login provider"
Contact Flywheel to add the new identity provider to your site.
