By default gears can be used by any user sitewide. However, Site Administrators or Site Developers can limit gear access to designated users or projects. For more information on the impact of gear access, see this article.
A site admin or site developer can restrict access on a specific gear on the Installed Gears list. Access restrictions are set at the project or user level. Combinations and multiples are allowed.
As a site admin, you will need to switch to Manage Site Mode to be able to set access across all projects in the site.
As a site developer, you can restrict access to only projects you have permission for. Using the SDK it is possible to restrict access to any site project if you have the project id.
1. Go to the Installed Gear list and locate the gear for which you would like to change access settings.
2. Click on the Manage Access button for the gear, and you will have the option to turn on restricted access.
3. Set the Projects that should have access to this gear. There is also a tab for giving users access. If you give a user access, they can access the gear on all their projects. These two tabs work independently, giving access at the project and user levels.
4. Click Save.
