HTML Viewer

The HTML Viewer displays HTML files (.html) and HTML archives (.html.zip), such as the quality assurance (QA) reports produced by the MRIQC gear. In the Web App, it appears as HTML Preview. The HTML Viewer is included with Flywheel, so you do not need to register it.

The HTML Viewer runs as a standalone viewer application and displays each file in an isolated frame. A file's content, including any scripts it contains, cannot access the Web App or your Flywheel session.

Open a File in the HTML Viewer

  1. Navigate to the container that holds the file.
  2. Click the options menu () next to the file.
  3. Select Launch in HTML Preview.

The file opens in the HTML Viewer, with the file name at the top.

Run Scripts in a File

Added in version 23.0.0

Starting in version 23.0.0, the HTML Viewer can run scripts (JavaScript) in HTML files after you allow them.

HTML files can include scripts for interactive content, such as expandable sections and links that jump to another part of the page. For security, the HTML Viewer does not run a file's scripts until you allow them. Until then, content that depends on scripts does not work.

To run a file's scripts:

  1. Open the file in the HTML Viewer.
  2. Click Allow Javascript at the top of the viewer window, next to the file name.

The HTML Viewer reloads the file with its scripts allowed. The Allow Javascript button appears only when the file contains scripts.

Your choice is not saved, so click Allow Javascript each time you open the file.

Warning

Allow scripts only for files from trusted sources.
